Kid's Today

What ever happened to the good old days when young people just had good old fashioned pre-marital sex. Well those days are gone. And I bet Genarlow Wilson of Georgia wishes he could turn back the hands of time and just have some conventional sex between two consenting minors. Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen. Instead, Wilson has already served 27 months behind bars and is facing up to 10 years in prison because someone videotaped a 15 year old girl performing oral sex on him. Wilson was a star athlete, an honors student and was preparing to go to college when things went awry at a New Year's Eve party in 2003. Apparently, Georgia has some ridiculous law that has since been revised, whereby oral sex between teens constituted aggravated child molestation. So my main question is this. If that law was upheld , why was Wilson the one who got charged with a crime. The videotape shows a girl performing oral sex on him. Why wasn't she charged. Why isn't she in prison. Now I'm not saying that she should be. What mama is saying is that what's good for the gander is good for the goose. He could not have been the lucky recipient of the oral sex if it were not for the girl performing the act in question. If the law was truly designed to protect innocent children then it isn't doing it's job very well. Now is it? Clearly she is not innocent here. Even the sponsor of the bill, former Republican State Representative Matt Towery never intended for the law to be interpreted in this way. Now back to the good old fashioned conventional sex. If these two love birds were just plain "doing it" on tape, then neither one would be in trouble. Thanks to Georgia's Romeo and Juliet exception. Hopefully all of the sexually active teens in Georgia will just stick to the straight sex so they don't get in trouble. Let's see how many unwanted pregnancies occur or how many of these young star crossed lovers end up with some sexually transmitted disease. Don't get me wrong. Mama is as right wing as they come. I'd prefer these kids don't even kiss until they're married. But I'm trying to be reasonable. In 2006, Georgia changed the law so that oral sex between consenting minors is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison. I just don't get it. How could that be a crime. Kids will be kids. At least it's between kids and not some sick old pervert preying on an innocent young girl. The law is outdated (even after the revision) and it should be taken off the books to make room for a law that will actually protect innocent children, not 15 year old tramps that get involved in underage drinking and wild sex.
